Kevin's Teaching Philosophy
I believe that lessons should be tailored to each student's individual needs and therefore I use a variety of techniques and approaches. I also believe that in order to be a well-rounded musician and to have a higher appreciation for music, all students should learn concepts of music theory, history, and ear training in addition to technique and repertoire.
Students are expected to come prepared for each lesson and have a willingness to learn. Specific practice requirements depend on age and skill level, but daily practice is required for all.
For practice, I emphasize the importance of "quality over quantity". Practice is necessary, but ineffective practice will yield little to no results and can even be detrimental. It is important to me that all students practice intentionally and I use our lesson time to demonstrate how to practice effectively.

- Beginning Violin, Viola, Bass, and Piano Lessons
Weekly lessons are held at my home in Edgerton. Virtual* and "on-site" options are available - please contact for more information.
*Virtual lessons are strongly discouraged due to the loss of one-on-one interaction as well as challenges associated from audio/video quality and internet issues. Virtual lessons are reserved strictly for individuals with legitimate health concerns and those who live an un-commutable distance from Edgerton, WI.
Lesson Policy
Lessons are charged monthly and tuition is due at the beginning of the month.
Payments can be made in cash or check payable to: "Kevin Janisch"
Please provide at least 24-hours notice for absences unless due to an emergency or illness.
Excused absences include those due to medical/family emergencies, severe/contagious illnesses, and absences communicated in advance (e.g. vacations, school/sports schedules, etc.)

No refunds or credits will be offered for un-excused absences. In the event of an unexcused absence, all effort will be given to provide a make-up lesson
If the instructor is unavailable for lessons, a credit will be issued for the following month's tuition
